Day 6
Friday was our free day! I was beyond excited to see NYC as a tourist, although it was a little odd after seeing what we saw...
Most of us (minus Ross and Cody) woke up at 5:30(!) a.m. to go to the Good Morning America studio! Joe has a college friend that works there, and she agreed to give us a tour! Originally, we were going to be in the audience and on T.V., but unfortunately the night before Japan was hit by the earthquake and tsunami, so it was a crazy news day, and they decided not to have an audience. So instead of going straight to GMA, we went to Dunkin Donuts before our tour! At GMA we got to see the control rooms and sit in the Green Room! Sarah and I went to the bathroom, and while walking out, we walked right by George Stephanopolis!! And he smiled at us! So cool. My new claim to fame ;) Since they were taking a break, we got to go ON the set where they tape!!! It was AWESOME.
After leaving GMA, we did some souvenir shopping, had lunch, went on the Staten Island ferry, had lunch, more shopping (including the NBC store, M&Ms store, Bubba Gump Shrimp, and we saw the huge toy store on 5th ave. and saw Central Park!). Then we split off: Joe went home, another group stayed in Times Square, and Ross, Kyle, Justin, and I went to Chinatown!! They helped me find and barter for purses before we headed to the Americana diner for dinner, where we met Joe!
It was a crazy day, but so much fun! We definitely looked like tourists with dazed looks on our faces and cameras!
Thank you all again so much for supporting me either by funds or prayer - it truly was an amazing trip! Praise God :)
