Pause

If you saw the first season of How I Met Your Mother, you might remember in the middle of a fight both Lily and Marshall had the right to say "pause" and stop their fight until they were ready to "unpause."

Dating your spouse is a lot like that. I can already tell how important it is for Cal and I to "pause" and stop focusing on the life going on around us, and instead refocus on each other. Otherwise, you kinda start feeling like glorified roommates. In attempt to figure out this whole "dating your spouse" thing, we decided to alternate weeks in planning our dates. They don't have to be fancy or a surprise, but the effort in planning a special night for each other helps both of us feel loved.

We flipped a coin to start the first week off, and Cal made reservations for us at Bonefish Grill, one of my favorite restaurants! After work we got all dressed up, went out to a most delicious dinner (where I tried fried red peppers...a little spicy, but yum!), came back and had chocolate covered strawberries and we popped our last bottle of champagne (between the bachelor party, wedding, and gifts we had quite a few)! And the best thing was, we didn't watch any TV. It was like our honeymoon all over again :)

In other weekend related news, I think I have come down with some sort of sickness. I've been off since Thursday, and I keep not getting better despite all of the sleep! Thankfully I have the best husband in the world who has taken great care of me. He walked to get our takeout Hibachi and redbox movies, and this morning he brought me breakfast in bed. Oh, and did all the laundry and dishes. It's ok to be a little jealous.

This week marks 2 months of being married...the greatest day and 2 months we've had.
