Proverbs 31

Proverbs 31:10-31 is one of my favorite passages, and I think it's pretty important for a few reasons.

First off, I know I'm not a wife yet, so you may be thinking "what can she take from this?" However, I think these few verses hold so much meaning and instruction for how not only wives should live, but women of God in general. It's a character thing, and it's never too early to practice.

Secondly, I think it's pretty cool how this whole section (which is pretty big in terms of advice) has the honor of concluding Proverbs - a well known book! Especially since women "back in the day" were not as important as men. Yet the part that talks about what kind of wife (woman) we should be gets a huge part in the book! People tend to remember the beginning and the end of things, but forget the stuff in the middle. And while the whole Bible is important, I think this passage was strategically placed.

My favorite part of this is vs 28 - "She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come." It just makes my soul peaceful and happy...in fact, this whole section does. It makes me want to strive to be the woman in it...I want to be known as noble, hard working, wise, patient, welcoming, and most of all, loving. And not only to my husband, but to my children and anyone whom I come across.

Definitely a chapter worth memorizing!
