I forgot to say this in my last post, but in case you hadn't heard, I got the job as a Chancellor's Aide for N.C. State, which is a huge honor for me, and, well, anyone who can get that position! I will be working very closely with Chancellor Woodson (who is such a laid-back guy!) helping to host events and (most importantly?) the football/basketball games. My job is to tell my story - which I partially did through this post in talking about why I LOVE N.C. State...even if there is 30,000+ people who go here! I love, love, love our community. I really don't know of any (public) college that is this tight-knit and close with one another - whether it's with your classmates, random people you strike conversation is, or with the Chancellor when you pass him more than once a week throughout his walks to talk to students. Just, wow. This school has impressed me beyond belief.
Anyways, I'm now off my soapbox (or am I ever?). The other night our church, Crosspointe, hosted the band Gungor (who are famously known for song. I got to sit with my dad and brother in a special "Q&A" with the lead singer, Michael Gungor. While he was talking, he mentioned how he got to go off for a week to a cabin and be alone in complete silence. Oh, how I'm envious of that!! Both for my soul work and my writing...I would LOVE to have even a day or two completely alone in silence. Even though I can try and make time for myself, I never really get silence. And if I do, there's not much of it! I suppose I have to become a rock star before I can afford to skip town for a few days...or at least graduate first :) I suppose my runs will have to suffice in my "alone"-ness! But seriously, look this band up and check out their music. Some of their stuff is pretty funky and not my style, but all of it speaks so much to my heart and to many others'.
