Making Life Simple
There is so much going on in life. And not just my life, but everyone's. I have classes, friends, family, events, projects, a job. I also have a Droid, an iTouch, a nook, and a blog. I watched "What's Your Number" the other week and the main character mentioned how she didn't have a Facebook or any social network like it. And I thought "wow. I wish I could make my life simple like that."
I want to live my life in the now; not stalk people I don't know or wish I was in another stage of life like "them." I don't want to feel the need to check my news feed every time I'm bored. I want to not know what's going on with someone before I meet them without them telling me. And while I like it when people "like" my statuses, photos, etc., I don't want to feel like those "likes" prove my acceptance to that person.
Therefore, I'm deactivating. I'm pausing. I'm smelling the roses. I'm having conversations. I don't feel like broadcasting my life to 800+ people (how do I KNOW them all?!). I'm sure I'll come back at some point (certainly in time for my birthday in 10 months and 29 days and to see baby pictures and wedding pictures), but for now, I'll pass.
So don't be offended if I don't say "happy birthday" (I know I secretly-kind-of-jokingly keep track..another reason why I'm leaving) or say "yes" to an event. I'll still have twitter (hey, I need to vent/make my clever sayings somewhere) and my blog. I'll try to write more, but I'm participating in NaNoWriMo, so we'll see. My email is clloomis@ncsu.edu. You can find me there or at a movie theater, disc golf course, bike trail, running around campus, writing/crocheting in my dorm, at the gym, etc.
I'm excited to start this new, simple part of my life!!...after I save all my photos to my computer ;)
