7 Months
Summer is upon us! And only one more week of work for mommy which makes the 3 of us all do very happy!! The last 4ish months have been so, so hard. My heart has ached every day and leaving you did not get any easier for me.
Personality
You are a feisty little man! You know what you want, and if it's milk you want it NOW. You grunt or shriek to tell us no, or that you're ready to do something different.
Your love of pets is developing!! You laugh and laugh when the cats, or Grammy and Gramps' dog Ziggy comes to you. They capture your attention as much as our Roomba, which you also think is a pet, ha!
I never knew babies could have such a love for books. You LOVE Dr. Seuss, and in particular, Mr. Brown Can Moo, Can You? It's the one book that takes you from fussy to calm. Most books you won't last before you get fidgety, it's so funny! We have practically memorized the book.
If we didn't take you for an hour long walk each evening, you would most certainly go to sleep at 5. You are a somewhat good napper, but you are exceptional at going to sleep at night. It's so bad that if you believe it's time for bed and we're out in public, you'll cry and cry until one of us gets you back. Then you whimper like a grump until we take you home. You also do that if you get overstimulated.
Stats
We're guessing 21ish pounds at least!
You've been sleeping a lot so we're wondering if it's a new routine or a growth spurt
You're at the tail end of 9 month clothes, we're getting ready to switch over to 12 months next week (and it's all because of your Buddha belly).
Still in size 3 diapers, for now!
Firsts
You can sit up by yourself!! Definitely in your Bumbo, and like 70% of the time with no supports. However, if you get tired or you decide you're finished, you throw your neck and back backwards so we better be around to catch you.
We moved you to the crib! We probably kept you in the Rock N Play for too long, but it was more for me than you! I wasn't emotionally ready to have you in a different room, but I'll admit, it is nice to watch TV in our room when your dad works downstairs on late night calls! We did have to adjust the crib to make it feel like a Rock n Play. We have wood under it to tilt it up a little, and we rolled up a towel for under your sheet. As of last night, we took out the towel! You were a little more restless, but still only woke up 3 times, and you settled yourself 2 of those times.
We got to visit with your Great Grandparents on Mama's side for Uncle Jack's graduation. Boy did that weekend wear you out! You love to be a part of the party, though.
(Sorry to admit this to the world) Your first solid 💩😳
You went on the slide for the first time and to the pool! You're not a huge fan of cold water, but we'll keep trying because this summer is going to be HOT.
We discovered we have what I call a "teether feeder" and you LOVE to eat honey dew melon, cantaloupe, and frozen banana from it. You still have little to no interest in any other food. I've read that's common, so we're not pushing it. I do make you eat oatmeal with peanut powder a few times a week, and I think you like the spoon more than the food.
The separation anxiety is real when it comes to us putting you down and walking away (you don't care who's holding you). We are trying to teach you that you don't need to be entertained by us 24/7... But it's hard when we each only get about an hour or so of playtime with you during the week before you get fussy.
You chatter (you like to screech, even when happy, which is a little embarrassing in a restaurant!). You say baba when you really get going, and you say maaaa when you're upset.
You're noticing when we get excited - for example, up until the other day I hadn't seen you roll in at least a month. You finally did it for me and I cheered and clapped, and you got the biggest smile on your face and laughed!
One of my happiest moments each day is coming home and seeing your excited smile! You love to greet mama and dada and you know we're coming in when you hear the garage open. Love you so much, bud. Can't wait to see how you grow and learn this next month!
