Update

Ok, my accountable blog, I wanted to give you an update on how the read-the-Bible-in-a-year plan is going!

I have a terrible memory. And a terrible time figuring out how to fit time to read the Bible in my everyday schedule. Isn't that awful?! Well, I'm working on it.

To be truthful, I had stopped doing "the challenge" for like a month and a half. I was like 4 books behind where I should have been! When I first started the challenge, I brought my Bible with me to work and read there. One of the patrons asked me about it, so I told him what I was doing. A month and a half later, he came in while I was working and without even a hi said "what chapter are you on?" Wow. Without even knowing it, he was holding me accountable.

So, the other day, I brought my Bible with me again to work and started catching up. Nothing like 7 hour workdays that allow you to read your Bible, eh? So now I'm on Deuteronomy 12 (although I should be in Joshua 7!). But, alas, I'm catching up. And I'm trying not to rush through to "meet my goal" but rather to soak up God's word. Although I admit I'm in a bit of a funk as so far it has mostly been God's laws for Moses and everyone that have been repeated over. And over. And over. And over again! Us humans can't really get it the first time I suppose!

This morning one passage in particular stood out to me. Moses, in Deuteronomy, was relaying (yet again) what God requires of His people.

"For the Lord your God is the God of gods and Lord of lords. He is the great God, the mighty and awesome God, who shows no partiality and cannot be bribed. He ensures that orphans and widows receive justice. He shows love to foreigners living among you and gives them food and clothing. So YOU, TOO, must show love to foreigners, for you yourselves were foreigners in the land of Egypt. You must fear the Lord your God and worship him and cling to him. Your oaths must be in his name alone. He alone is your God, the only one who is worthy of your praise, the one who has done mighty miracles that you have seen with your own eyes."
-Deuteronomy 10:17-21

Can't you just hear the power in Moses's voice? I could!

Well, that's all for now! Thanks for listening(reading)!
