Two Months

It's hard to believe you've been here 8 weeks already. In some ways it has felt like no time at all, and in others, we are just SO READY to sleep again 😅 You have a handful of cluster-feeding nights every few weeks. On good nights, your first stretch will be about 3 hours (😭) and every hour or two after that. One night you slept for 4.5 hours and it was GLORIOUS. We are relying on a lot of caffeine these days.

You had your hip ultrasound due to being breech, and thankfully they looked a-okay!

Personality

You LOVE looking at mama, daddy, and Jericho! Jer Bear makes you smile right away! I think you're ready to get in on the action with him.

You enjoy walks and car rides as long as you're moving, for the most part you don't sleep during those - at best you cat-nap. Too much to see!

It has been really tough for us to figure out what kind of a schedule you like. Due to the lack of sleep, we splurged and bought a Taking Cara Babies newborn sleep course and her schedule seems to be helping (3 days in, ha!). The trickiest part is getting you to nap... You are easily overstimulated and we need to bring you to our room where it is quiet, dark, and has white noise. That can be tricky when daddy has work meetings and there's your big brother to keep track of 😅 A guaranteed way to get you to nap is for me to baby-wear you with our k'tan carrier - you'll sleep for 2 hours (and probably more if I let you!). While my back hurts, I love the closeness I feel with you. Will you be a snuggler?? Time will tell.

You also get really angry and hold that anger for awhile. For example, if you're fussy, I think you might be hungry and offer to nurse you but you're not hungry, you will go from fussy to inconsolable. We've had a few rough days as of recent, but I cling to the fact that so far, rough days means 3ish hour stretch nights!

-First Fourth of July

- First blowout and it was on Mama (your clothes didn't end up that messy because it shot out the side of your onesie!

- I'm pretty sure we've gotten some giggles from you. Nothing super clear yet.

- You've become excellent at tummy time - you've always been strong and your neck is getting stronger!

Unfortunately COVID has stolen some firsts you should have had. Your Uncle Sam and (great) Nana should have flown out here to meet and snuggle you. We are deeply sad they couldn't come and look forward to when they are able to!
