Resolutions
2012 was such a great year. Not only did I get engaged and make it to the half-way point until the wedding, but I reached some lofty running goals and completed a half-marathon, worked my favorite job so far, was a nanny for some precious children, and I grew a lot in my teacher persona and ability. This semester has probably been the hardest, stressful, yet most significant, important, and rewarding one to me than any of my semesters since high school. I truly have learned that much and discovered that much about myself - the next year and a half til graduation must be a doozy if it compares to my last few months! I absolutely love the school I worked at, the teacher who mentored my partner and I, and all of the sweet babies I encountered there.
2013 has a lot to live up to - although I think the wedding may take the cake for the past few years ;) But then again...the wedding (and it's lead-up) is only a day and some - I still have about 360 other days to fill and enjoy! So I have made a list of 13resolutions er - goals to help begin what could be the greatest year to come for me!
1. Marry my handsomely hot fiance. I had to include this one...it'll be one of the biggest events of our year and will change our lives forever!
2. Run 1,000 miles. Ok, that sounds like a lot. This is more of a 2 year goal - if I make it to 800 this year, I'll be incredibly happy - then 2014 better watch out for me to hit that 1,000th mile! 12 down so far and it's January 4th!
3. Do 20,000 pushups. This may not sound like a lot, but it's probably 19,000 more than I did last year :)
4. Decorate our apartment for $500 or less. Pinterest may be dangerously tempting here...I'll post pre, during, and post pictures once the process begins in April/May
5. Run in the Krispy Kreme Challenge and a half marathon with my dad. I did both last year - but I want to improve my times and I'm so excited - and a little intimidated - to run with my dad in both!
6. Take (a) spontaneous trip(s). This is on Cal's list too :) Spontaneous being 3 days or less notice!
7. Make our first family yearbook featuring pictures from each month. More on this later - I love Pinterest!
8. Start an emergency fund (eventually to be around $10,000) and begin putting money away for a house
9. Treasure small moments, don't stress about the future. It's ok if the dishes sit in the sink for a day. This is a biggie I need to focus on.
10. Buy my first stock or two. My future father-in-law gave us (the Foshee kids) a financial presentation, and I think this is a realistic goal I can do to help our future.
11. Be more consistent in reading my Bible and journaling my prayers. I really hope 2013 is a year of growth in my relationship with the Lord.
12. Freely give time and money. I want to volunteer for a few more things on top of KidCity at Hope and be consistent in tithing.
13. Make a new friend. This is a toughie for my introverted self.
Throughout the year I'll check into the goals, but most of these won't be completed by February, July, or even November - they're year-long ideas I'm striving to accomplish. The jist is, I want to enjoy the sweetness of life while maintaining a healthy, smart lifestyle - if I don't do 20,000 pushups but I feel that 2013 was a successful year in terms of my overall goal, I'd be just as happy as if I did 50,000 pushups! I hope and pray that 2013 is a blessing of a year for you, too - full of grace, restoration, and joy. Happy New Year!
