Almost Baby Time
In an effort to preserve some of the memories of our family, I have decided to attempt to blog again! Excuse me while I dust away the bunnies off of this thing.
While it was fun to blog during our first few months of marriage, I quickly found there wasn't much to say that would be of interest to many people! We have lived a pretty boring last 4 years. Exciting and wonderful for us, but hearing about Netflix binges, and new beers and recipes we tried would get old pretty quickly. Oh, and seeing about a billion cat pictures, all of our two furballs in basically the same position. We have them. Just become my friend on Snapchat (or Snap-Cat as my family lovingly calls it).
Here we are, 4 and a half years into this amazing journey of marriage and we are just weeks (days, really!) away from welcoming our first born into the world. Boy or girl, we don't know. It's crazy to think I have this human inside of me that I know practically nothing about. Other than it has these sweet chunky cheeks, cute as can be lips, and a head measuring in the 99.9th percentile. If you're like me and don't understand what that means, let me paint you a little picture. You're in a room with 1,000 newborns (good luck, I hope they're sleeping). See that one with the giant head? Bigger than everyone else's? Yep, that's our booger. Let's hope he or she will grow into the head as time goes on.
Because of this gargantuan head and otherwise large body, our baby has been rotating in all sorts of breech positions. Therefore, we have a C-section scheduled for November 21! That's right, 2 days before Thanksgiving. I thought I might be disappointed in being told I couldn't even try a "regular" birth, but after that invasive Group Strep B test last week (hello, maybe one baby IS enough for me) I'm pretty glad that my wimpy self is going to have a (fairly) short delivery and I won't be totally destroyed underneath if ya know what I mean. As for my abs: muscles, schmuscles, amiright? I am someone's mom now after all - throw away the bikinis and get me some mom jeans. Then again, it is major abdominal surgery. That I'm awake for. The medical anxiety is real - but it was real when the anticipation of contractions and labor was there, too. Not that long ago my mom would have to trick me to get into the car for a doctor's appointment because I am so fearful of needles. Thankfully this third trimester discomfort is REAL and so that may be just enough to get me to voluntarily go to the hospital early that Tuesday morning.
Stay tuned to hear more about the pregnancy/birth, if we love our child as much as our kitties, and most importantly check in to see if we've survived the first few weeks of parenthood. ✌️
